Hello, I’m Shannon—the gardener and baker behind Flour & Flowers!
I LOVE flowers. They have brought me so much joy, both on my own table and when shared with those around me. They also take up most… cough ALL… of my free time. In my “real world” life, I’m an Occupational Therapist and truly love helping others reach their goals.
My gardening journey began with vegetables after working on a produce farm for several years and developing a deep appreciation for locally grown food. I’ve continued my small-scale veggie garden ever since, providing fresh and preserved food year-round. Like many, I was also inspired by my grandparents—who gardened, farmed, canned, and took pride in the fruits of their labor. I wanted to continue that tradition and enjoy the benefits of my own hard work. I quickly realized just how much joy this hobby brought me.
After purchasing a flower delivery subscription from a national chain and feeling underwhelmed (holy cow—expensive!), I had a lightbulb moment: I love veggie gardening, so what’s stopping me from growing flowers too?! The idea of fresh-cut flowers daily sounded like a dream, and with hard work, I knew I could make that dream a reality.
As I grew more of my own food and flowers, I decided to try my hand at bread—particularly sourdough. Being able to provide nourishing food made with simple ingredients for my loved ones sparked a new passion, which grew into a micro bakery offering an array of handcrafted baked goods.
Now here I am—elbows deep in dirt and dough, with seeds and flour galore, planning the next season of micro flower farming while continuing to grow my micro bakery. I’m always learning, and my love for flowers and baking only continues to grow.
Speaking of growing, you should see my yard as more and more of it becomes devoted to flowers. Who needs grass anyway? I wouldn’t have it any other way, because it allows me to share my love and passion with all of you.
Follow along with me as I continue this journey into the next season. It’s my hope that this page makes you smile and feel loved in the same way a fresh bouquet of flowers and warm bread brings me.
With love,
Shannon
